INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCE FESTIVAL ''ALEGRÍA”
Calella - Spain
From 23 June till 30 June 2011

The 3rd International Folk Dance Festival “ALEGRIA” will be held in Calella from 23 June - 30 June, 2012.
The Festival’s aim is to present the cultural tradition, to give an insight into the folklore treasure from different countries and regions, and to provide the opportunity for the members of groups preserving traditions from different countries to get together and create long lasting friendships. Calella is located in the Spanish region of Catalonia on the Costa Maresme, just 50 kilometers north of Barcelona. Calella with it’s location makes it a first-class coastal destination awarded with the European quality Blue Flag - Calella beach (length: 2180m, width: 65; fine white sand) - a spacious and popular beach, with clear waters and moderate waves.
Barcelona is the capital, the most popular city of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain, with a population of 1,615,908 in 2008.
Barcelona Cathedral is the spectacular Church of the Holy Family (Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia), designed by the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. The building of the neo-Gothic cathedral was started in 1883 and Gaudi became the official architect. Unfortunately, Gaudi died in an accident in 1926 and the cathedral remained unfinished. Construction work did start again in 1979, much based on Gaudi's original plans.
Aquarium Barcelona is placed in the Port Vell and has 35 different aquariums, 11.000 animals of 450 different species and an underwater tunnel of 80 meters.
The Camp Nou is a football stadium in Barcelona, Spain. It is a UEFA 5-star rated stadium, and has hosted numerous international matches at senior level, and UEFA Champions League finals, the most recent being in 1999.
There will be excursions organized by bus, visiting Barcelona with English speaking guide for 4 hours, Barcelona Cathedral, Gaudi Park, Aquarium and visiting of Nou Camp for the price of 30 euro per person.
Calella is rightfully proud of its rich and varied history. The city has scores of beautifully-preserved buildings that can lend your event a touch of class. During your free time the Organizer, on your request, can organize several excursions, as the one mentioned above, or separate one to visit the top attractions of the wonderful area of Barcelona. We will additionally inform you about the cost of the guided tours such as for the magnificent Dali Museum, Port Aventura Fun Park in Barcelona, Spain village, Flamenco night and others.
